Emergency Communication

Communication during and immediately after an emergency is an important component of response and recovery. It connects affected people, families, and communities with first responders, support systems, and other family members.

Recognizing how crucial Emergency Communication is, EVCNB developed a multifaceted approach to ensure our community can respond promptly, accurately, and confidently during any emergency.

Emergency Communication Zones

Yellow Radios purchased through EVCNB are programmed to cover nine Emergency Communications Zones so that neighborhoods throughout the Nehalem Bay Region can stay informed and assist in providing critical updates to support emergency responders. Zone communications are transmitted on General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS) frequencies, commonly used for short-distance, two-way voice communications.

The EVCNB may use KQMI’s Manzanita frequency, 88.9 FM, to broadcast emergency messages locally. Most likely, messages would be broadcast every 15 minutes unless there is breaking news.
