Celebrating our Volunteers
EVCNB has an outstanding group of active volunteers. Each year we honor volunteers that have made substantial contributions to the EVCNB mission. In addition to our Volunteer of the Year, the William Reid “Bill” Harshbarger CERT Award for Leadership and Excellence has been presented since 2019. This award is given to an outstanding CERT member, in memory of Bill Harshbarger, who was instrumental in building our CERT program.
Volunteer of the Year
2022 – Brad Hart
Brad is a person of many talents. He brings great technical skills to EVCNB. He is a valued member of the Communication and Outreach team, in charge of sending out EVCNB information to the community via Facebook, BBQ and local news outlets. He is a member of his Zone Yellow Radio Leadership Team and is an active CERT. He is also a great project manager, helping to keep our major projects on track. He is organized, calm, and thorough.
With all of this volunteer’s skills, he is unfailingly a delight to work with. Everyone in EVCNB wants Brad on their team!

Harshbarger CERT Award
2022 – Activation Team
The 2022 Harshbarger Award goes to the Activation Team: Mark Adamcin, John Beaston, Steve Case and Brad Hart. The team was honored for an App they created that streamlines and simplifies the process to notify volunteers when their services are needed, in other words, when volunteers are “Activated”. If a Shelter needs to be opened during a storm or CERTs are needed to help police with a Lost Person search, the App targets the volunteers trained to do that work and texts the details to them. Volunteers can reply to let authorities know if they are able to deploy or not.
