Jonathan Allan is a registered geologist with the Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries. Jon completed his PhD at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand.
Between July 1999 and December 2000, he worked as a post-doc at OSU in the College of Earth Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences, working on the effects of extreme storms on Oregon beaches.
He joined DOGAMI in January 2001 and has undertaken research on a variety of topics including coastal change mapping, coastal flooding and the effects of tsunami. Jon established the Oregon Beach Shoreline Mapping and Analysis Program (OBSMAP) and currently leads the Tsunami modeling and mapping program for the State of Oregon.
