Nehalem Valley Historical Society Event Benefits EVCNB

On July 8th, the Nehalem Valley Historical Society (NVHS) held a series of events featuring renowned geologist, Dr. Brian Atwater. The day started with Dr. Atwater signing copies of his new book, “The Orphan Tsunami of 1700”. Copies could be purchased at Cloud and Leaf bookstore, then signed next-door at The Offshore Grill.

Later, the North County Recreation District (NCRD) hosted Dr. Atwater’s presentation to an enthusiastic audience. Dr. Atwater shared his research on this ancient tsunami and the fascinating discoveries in the 1990’s that underpin many of today’s precautions around earthquakes and tsunamis in the Cascadia Subduction Zone.
