Tsunami 101 Presentation Recap

Links to all presentations shared at the event are at the bottom of this article.

The Tsunami 101 presentation at the Pine Grove Community House on June 4, 2025 was a great success. We had a full house with over 100 attendees.

Tables with additional information about EVCNB’s programs were on display for attendees to browse and ask questions before the presentation and after.

The meeting started with Linda Kozlowski, EVCNB’s Emergency Response Division Director, talking to attendees about EVCNB’s various programs. This gave everyone an overview of what EVCNB is all about in addition to steps each of us need to take to be prepared in case of a disaster.

Linda then handed over the presenters baton to our distinguished experts to talk about everything you need to know about earthquakes and tsunamis. Those presenters were: Laura Gabel, Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries (DOGAMI), Adam Batz, Meteorologist NOAA/National Weather Service and Dr. Althea Rizzo, Oregon Office of Emergency Management. The attendees were engaged in the presentation and asked lots of questions of the experts.

Ann Morehead, Tillamook County Emergency Management’s Team, was the next presenter. She shared resources available to the community, how to get more involved in emergency preparedness and instructions to sign up for emergency alerts for Tillamook County. Those details are in the presentation links shared below.

Brad Hart, EVCNB’s Vice President, closed the meeting by thanking all the attendees, distinguished guests, volunteers and program presenters. Raffle tickets were drawn to win a new Neighborhood Radio and a fully stocked GoBag.
